Six Months

I was shuffling through my photos from various trips to Ringarooma when I came across these. This is the view from the road about 100m from my sister’s home. The second photo is one that I shot by accident when I was trying to change some settings on my camera in January of this year (hence the overexposure and general appallingness of it), and the first is one that – by sheer coincidence – was taken on the same day of the month, six months previously. I thought it was a nice comparison of the extremities of our Tassie seasons.

I guess June is when the rain starts in good earnest and the hills that have been sporting a barely noticeable green fluff suddenly turn into gorgeously lush green pastures and crops. In the middle of summer, though, the farmers are fighting the dry brown grass with irrigators and sprinklers, and the cows are eating a lot more ‘pre-packaged’ food. One thing doesn’t seem to change, though: the woodheaps.
