Bubbles

Today I witnessed bubbles – those ethereal and delicate things – breaking through some phenomenal barriers. I heard a boy with severe developmental delays chant a two-syllable word over and over again, and attempt conversation with a total stranger. I saw a painfully shy two-year-old find enough bravery to get in the middle of a scrum of cheering children. I watched as Mr. Seven-year-old put aside his carefully cultivated crankiness in the face of big, shiny bubbles. And I definitely felt a bubble of happiness bumping around inside me as I took it all in.

I was too busy getting slimy hands and a dizzy head waving a giant bubble wand around in the sunshine to take any photos, so I’ll let you in on a secret instead… Giant bubble wands (about a foot long, with bubble solution) are only $1 at Kmart, and they blow the BEST bubbles!
