Chibi Dan and Roo!
Chibi is a stylised way of drawing characters. Basically, you take the Japanese manga style of drawing and make it rounder, less proportional and more like a plush toy – the details usually get lost along the way, but that’s part of the charm. (Especially if you’re like me, and can’t draw fingers, feet, eyes, facial features, hair, clothes…. etc.) I’ve decided to have a go at making some chibi characters of my friends. The first two are Andrew and Daniel, and have been my works in progress for the last two evenings. One of these days I’m gonna have to do some homework. Right now, though, I’m just wondering who to do next!
I’ve got a basic body outline for males and females now, and I’m getting the hang of colouring and making adjustments, so things are running a bit faster. They might all look a little the same (sorry guys, but jeans is jeans!) and I am trying to make something individual for each of them shine through. Dan’s striped hoodie is a tribute to his wardrobe staple, and voila! his new glasses, too. Andrew’s trademark hairstyle was the most fun to draw.

I love it. Especially how you made Andrew taller than me so that you didnt just swap and change bits and pieces.
Is my hair usually that wild? LOL
Andrew looks like he is blushing and possibly a little female.
I think your next project should me to turn them into plush toys…

LOL. your hair is a lot tamer here than it was originally! It was just so curly and cute I didnt want to change it any more ^.^
Yeah, in comparison Roo’s skin is very pink.I don’t think feminine, tho.

lol, I’m indifferent if its feminine interpreted, Everyone has differing levels of masculine/fem so variation is good!! :-p
….also I’m just a very pale person! :-p

ha ha i love it, i don’t think daniels hair is that wild, but andrew looks dead to rights, but well the goth hair and all its not to hard create something that looks like him.

It’s just the hair that’s goth, if you read that correctly. Don’t get too hopeful.
