Elsie
My grandmother gave this photo to my grandfather in ’42 – written on the back of it in her unmistakeable handwriting are the words ‘To Don, with love.’ I’m a bit hazy on the dates, but Elsie would have been 20 or 21 in this photo, and Don was probably posted somewhere reasonably distant. I have absolutely no idea if they were married in ’42 or not, but if they weren’t, I’d say they were very shortly after.
I love looking at old photos and thinking about what the people in them were feeling, what they were doing, why the photo was even taken, what the photographer was like… When I first saw this one, I immediately exclaimed “that’s where I get my dodgy eyes from!”… okay, not very respectful or overly sentimental, but I have a whole case of photos from this decade. Maybe it’s time to wake the scanner up again and post some more. What do you think? Interested in old photos?

You can really see the family resemblance! That’s a cool pic (I recognise the jars :-p, …and the infamous camera). Post more of these please! Sadly I must be a badcock, cos I do like family history. lol, shhhhh.

Im not a huge nut for family history, mainly cause mines pretty boring. But I just realised that I dont know who my great grandfather’s / mother’s are. Maybe I will have to pull out the Family Tree Book and have a look!
