Finished!

Today is rather a milestone, wouldn’t you say? I’ve had my last class for my BEd degree, and I’ve finished the last assignment. I don’t have any reason to go back on campus (except that it’s the easiest way to hand in said assignment). To all intents and purposes, the last four years of my life are officially over. All I have left to do to qualify for graduation is six weeks of practical experience, and then wait for December 18 to roll around. I’ve applied for my Limited Authority to Teach, which should be approved in another three weeks, and I’m suddenly about to grow up and move on. The only problem is… I’m not sure I’m ready! I guess the end of this week marks the end of my life as an official student, and that’s all I know how to do – in fact, I’ve kind of perfected it over the last eighteen years!

Four years! That is at once an incredibly long time, and no time at all. Think of all the things that have changed in those four years – how, in August 2007 I was a nervous, unknowing and untrained first year prac. student – now I’m feeling that I absolutely am a teacher, and I can accept the responsibility and justify any action I take. Today finished on a quietly optimistic note, with shades of stress as everyone struggles to find the motivation and energy to finish the last assignment and organise pracs. I haven’t slept properly or at any great length for three weeks, and I’m looking forward to falling asleep before midnight and sleeping in long and late in the morning! Responsibility can wait for another couple of days.

So what better way to celebrate than with some slightly crazy group photos? Apparently I’m an abominable photographer, though. I have eight terrible photos on my camera with sarah in them, followed by two perfect ones that she took, with me in them! Sigh. And finally – I’ll catch up on an Augraphy topic on a less momentous day – like Saturday.
