Ghost Code
I’m starting off the week long challenge-within-a-challenge (to post seven photos with a high tech content) on what I hope is a considerably techy note. Behold, my clunky laptop and it’s faithful… ghost? I was playing around with shutter speeds and such, and this was the result. If you want to see the photo that’s featured on the screen there, please check it out here (and really… please do! It’s a fabulous/creepy shot I got today of one of the freakiest birds I’ve even seen. It watched me eat my lunch, and not in a friendly-any-crumbs-for-me? kind of way. More of a I’m-secretly-recording-everything-you-say-to-report-to-a-man-in-a-dark-office kind of way.)
Also, this is probably a good chance to plug GIMP, since it’s the program on my computer screen in this shot. GIMP is an open-source, free-to-download program that serves as a fantastically adequate (and legal) substitute for Photoshop. I’ve been experimenting with it, and while some things take a little longer (cropping and resizing, most noticeably), I haven’t found anything that I could do better with photoshop. With a little more practice perfecting my technique in Gimp, I should be able to get some more chibis on deck soon! Seriously, if you have the slightest inclination to do anything graphic-y on a computer, do yourself a favour and check out Gimp. The official site is here.
