Keep September Open

I like my niece’s way of spreading the news best, so here it is, a transcript from Good Friday, when my parents and I went to Ringarooma for the day:

Heidi: Kobe’s coming tomorrow!

Alice: Yeah, he’s coming for an Easter play!

Heidi: Yep, he’s coming to play here to-mor-row. And Mum’s having a baby in September. Between the thirteenth and the twenty fourth. And Kobe’s going to bring his ball!

Mum: Who’s Kobe? Oh, he lives down the road, right, I’m with you.

Me: *chuckling at the casualness of Heidi’s remark*

Heidi: Yeah, and he’s in my class

Mum: I see! …it’s not your mum, though?!

Heidi: Yeah. Did you see my Easter bird box?

At this point I feel free to act all smug and stuff, because I figured this out several weeks ago. I like to think that it’s because she’s my sister. The picture today was mainly because I wanted to draw a pregnant woman, more than anything else. So… let the countdown begin!
