le Masque!

This little number is what I’ve been working on at odd intervals this week. The base image and inspiration came from this site. PXLEYES hosts a bunch of competitions (some with small prizes, some without) for amateur through to much more professional photoshoppers. I’m too far down the amateur end of the scale to be confident of submitting anything I create, but when I need inspiration I head over to the site and have a go at some of the competitions – then check back and see how terribly I’ve been out done!
This is only a rough sketch of an idea, but at this point, I’ve run out of ideas to develop it further. Normally I would just accept that it’s not working and consign it to the archives of my Artistical Stuff folder, but I decided to pull it out and show you, instead. Keep in mind that the writing is just stuck on (it means ‘be masked’ or ‘to be masked’ in google-translator-french) and that the feathery curls are really just the bottom layer of an idea. But like I said, it will probably never develop any further unless someone comes up with a brilliant idea. At the moment, my least favourite aspect of this piece is the flatness, but either I don’t have enough interest or cleverness (I can’t decide which – probably both) to build it up any more.
So here’s just a glimpse of something that will probably never see the light of day again. Of course, if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them. Just click the little green circle at the bottom of this post to leave a comment. Or, I guess you can like the post, but… that’s not very helpful in this case >.o
Also, you should check out the entries in the Venetian Mask Competition on PXLEYES. Some of them will astound you!
Just this rather short n’ sweet post today, it’s my nephew’s first birthday and I’m going to Tasmazia.

maybe one idea to help make it less flat is give it a background photo; blur it up a little, darken it, but saturate the red…. So maybe a picture of a theatre stage with blood red curtains, and all the outlines are blackned (I think there’s an photoshop effect that’s cool for that)….
lol, that’s just my idea.

now, how come that never occured to me? Maybe posting this was a good idea! Thank You! ^.^ I’ll give it a go, although I don’t know if I’ll use the stage… maybe I can find something suitable from my own pics.
