Miss Scarlett
I seem to be on a bit of a drawing/graphics kick at the moment. This is my latest piece, a representation of Miss Scarlett (spelling optional) from the board game Cluedo. It’s taken me maybe eight or ten hours, all told, to get her to this stage… I’m just starting to get sick of her, so it’s great that she’s finished!
For anyone interested in the process, I drew her from scratch in photoshop, using a stock photo from the internet for reference for her pose and the folds of her skirt. I also used a photo for reference for her hair, Lisa and Sam’s hands for that appendage, and just kinda made the rest up. I can’t draw to save myself, but somehow things translate well on the computer. I used the pen tool to create the outlines, and then various techniques to colour her in. She was created only using my trackpad on my laptop, because I can photoshop better with that than a proper mouse.
… I think that’s about all! Enjoy! (not full size on my blog, if you’d like to see her huge (A3 size) I can email you the file.) I may be posting some other Cluedo characters, but maybe not for a while.
Oh, and anyone catch the n0t-so-subtle reference to another fictional woman? Hint: it’s all in the name.

She is fantastic!! I still can’t believe you drew her on the computer!! There’s so much control in it. wow!! Loving the hair, such detail, and i nice amount of individualism in the strands. Heh, makes her look,in control and a little bit wild. Anyway, kudos!! How do you go about with shading? you seem pretty good at doing it.

Fiddle Dee Dee, Miss Katie Scarlett O’Hara it is indeed!
Thanks Dan and Roo.. *blush* The pen tool is the secret to the smooth lines – The hardest part is practising with the pen tool to be any good at it. I think I’m starting to get the hang of hair colouring – I was quite proud of my light direction on her hair here!
Shading I just use a medium fuzzy brush with low opacity and set on multiply, and run it along the right edge of all the lines that look like they might need it. To get light spots I do the same, only brush setting on screen.
