New Month, New Challenge

Welcome to August, the nicest of all the winter months! We’re past the yearly equivalent of hump day, the season is drawing out, Spring is in sight and the days are getting longer. There’s a hint of jubilation in the air, even the rain is friendlier, and there’s a new blog challenge afoot!

This month, the challenge is to post a photo a day – appropriately dubbed ‘Augraphy’ by Dan, and subtitled ’21 things’ by the less imaginitive me. If you’re thinking ‘ah, but Anna, there are THIRTY one days in August’, let me hasten to explain…

Dan and I have decided to give our posts a little bit of direction this time around, and as such we’ve made a list of things – themes, or hints if you like – to photograph at some point during the month. The deal is that we can choose whichever theme fits best, as long as we don’t repeat the theme twice on any week day. Weekends (the other ten days in the month) are free choice. You may see some outtakes from previous days’ themes, or whatever else takes our fancy. Anyway, I hope you have as much fun checking out the photos as I plan to have taking them!

To kick of the month, I’d like to share this snap from Henry’s ‘early birthday’ at Arthur River at the beginning of July. I’ve only just realised that I haven’t shared any photos from that trip, although i have a bunch of them all edited and ready to go. While it’s not the prettiest shot of my niblings, I think it’s very characteristic.

Heidi (on the right) is suddenly much more grown up, and moves too fast to worry about little things like doing up the second button on her shirt. She’s also pretty awesome about looking after and playing with Henry, in a way that she never was with Alice.

Alice (on the left) is into expressing her creativity with scissors, hence the rather blocky fringe, and she’s not afraid to wear pink – a colour Heidi hates with a vengeance. She’s still going through a clumsy stage (hopefully it’s a stage!) and is always displaying a few bumps and bruises.

And there’s Henry – the mischievous, giggly, happy two-year-old who can throw the best tantrums you’ve ever seen – after all, he’s had two sisters to teach him how. I wonder what he’ll be like in two years when he has a younger sibling to, ah, ‘look after’…

Heh… I’ll have to watch her carefully next time she’s cutting, and see if she has weird hand shapes! =P

You’re not clumsy, tho?! Are you talking about me? How rude! ;-)
