Number 31!
TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF THE 31-DAY BLOG CHALLENGE!
This is incredibly exciting and rewarding for me, and I’m sure iDigDan, my partner in composition, feels the same way. It’s all Dan’s fault, and I’m going to take this opportunity to give him full credit.
I’m not really sure how this whole blog thing started out. My first serious blog was hosted at sampa.com, then I decided to move it up a notch and landed at ucoz.com… now I’m here, courtesy of Dan again, and my blogging has moved way beyond the original once-a-month writings I started with. Looking back over this last months’ blogs, I can’t say I’m terribly impressed (I much prefer some of my older writing) – but that can be next month’s challenge. This month the goal was to have something posted each day, and I can’t believe how easy that was. I fell into a pattern that was easy to follow – although it did get rather disrupted in this last week. My sleep schedules, thought patterns and general habits plummeted into a dead spin following the realisation that uni really had begun, and I wasn’t anything like prepared. Now I’m feeling on top of everything (perhaps unjustly, but oh well!) and ready to tackle some genuine writing again…
But credit where credit is due… without Dan, I would still be writing randomly every second month with no motivation or real interest in it. The challenges he came up with at odd hours of the night have made me get my act together and do something that I love more regularly. The other things that I have to thank him for are the photohunts. We stumbled across our cameras at about the same time, and decided to head out to find something to take photos of. We ended up at Chalmers church, The waterfront and Penny Royal that day. I have those photos labelled the 4th of April this year. That doesn’t seem all that long ago, but we’ve done a lot since then! The last couple of weekends have been too rainy or too busy to get out with our cameras, and I can’t believe how much I miss Saturday photohunts when they don’t happen. Sometimes it’s great just to get out of the house and away from everything else and just immerse yourself in taking photos… lining up a shot, finding something special to capture, and twisting your mind around new ways to make something interesting. And having someone for company who doesn’t get incredibly bored and who’s willing to pose for a photo makes it that much better!
So, to commemorate the end of this month – can I call it a milestone month? – I want to share some photos from both Dan and I on that first photohunt. Here they are, side-by-side, to show how our interpretations of the same subject matter compare (but remember, he has an awesome camera and more skill…!) My photos are on the left, Dan’s on the right!
And finally, I want to say a huge thank you for all the support from everyone who reads my blog occasionally! Thanks for putting up with the ‘blatant self-advertising’ (well, it’s proven to work!), the odd dreary note and the bizarrity that found its way up here the last 31 days! I appreciate it all so much!
I’ll be back tomorrow with some plans for the month of August!

YAY!! you made it!! It’s fun to read as well (even if I am a slack so-and-so) so I’m glad you and dan do blogs!
Also fantastic pics!! Dan’s windmill is at such a great angle, and sweet saturation/colour/shady-ness!
