Painted Faces – Darkness
I figure that I’ll intersperse the dodgy face paintings with the ones I like – that keeps the pain to a minimum, and may make you appreciate the good ones a little more!
Today’s face is the result of a mistake when I was trying to do something completely different… but I think it’s just about the most effective one! I had a hard time deciding whether it was more effective in colour or black and white, with just the iris coloured – see the home page pictures for the colour version!

I like this (the inside one). there’s something so so shadowy about it. It’s cool. I did think the implications of black-face… but then that’s not you’re doing, it’s not racial, it’s playing with colour themes.
Heh, I’m over thinking and base covering, sometimes people can see too much into something that isn’t there… lol, I’m talking about myself, I’ll stop. soon. :-p

How did I know that you would bring up the blackface thing? =P I thought about that as an issue for about two seconds before I decided that I really didn’t care, since I wasn’t trying to bring a racial argument and people just get too hung up on stupid things like this these days. Let there be art, with no political agenda.
And yes, when the subject is me, or my stuff, you do look too far into it! I don’t think that far into it myself, so looking for hidden meanings is pretty much useless. heh.

ohh, but subtext can be accidental, the artist is influence by the times and society they live in. you’re a construction of ideas and themes, and while the artist didn’t deliberately put the concept in there, it can still exist. Which makes it so much fun to bring things up.

I have to say the black makes the look in you eye super intense!!! Like freaking me out super intense!!! The more I look at it the more it scares me I love the contrast between the white of your eye and the black of your face… I have to stop looking now…u scary lady!

ohhh, I think I just realised what I liked about the photoshopped/allblack one. It’s so neutural of gender. But still very person-like. cool!
