Reno(sim)ations
Just for something a tad different… Dan challenged me yesterday to compare our decorating and building skills in The Sims 3. We both downloaded the same lot, a burnt-out and run-down warehouse building, and the task was to convert it to a habitable living space. Dan successfully turned his into a modern, (most likely expensive) 3 bedroom home – and you can check out his pics on his blog. I’m a big fan of open plan living, so my house is not-quite-1-bedroom, with 1.5 bathrooms and a cosy space for my burgeoning artist to use for her studio. I’ve elected to keep the second floor empty, to get that lovely deep space above the first floor, and the second storey (which is really the third one) makes a nice mezzanine floor. The wall coverings are a pick’n'mix of the stripped back brick and a nice clean paint job, and the first storey floor is smooth concrete – I’ve tried to keep elements of the warehouse, and accentuated the homeliness with wooden and plush furniture!
So tell me.. which decorating style do you prefer, or would you do something completely different if you had a whole warehouse to convert?

oh noes!! You both went with such different ways to go about it!! I love the modern (but super expensive) look daniel had, as well as your inhabiting and not totally renovating everything. I like the wall placing, and the exterior in yours more. But dan has such a flair for inside deco, his interior design. Anna’s has a cool real loft feel to it.
Hmm, again, too different for me to pick. Maybe you guy should switch houses with each other, and not allowed to change inside and outside walls (but windows, doors and floor/wall colourings can be changed)… I’d love to see Anna’s take on Daniel’s house, and vice versa.
