Scarlet Saturday – Signage
Launceston’s City Park – known affectionately or otherwise as The Monkey Park – is a gorgeous place to be in summer and autumn. In summer the birds sing, the ducks quack, there’s green, green grass and plenty of shady patches to laze in. In autumn, the ground is covered in leaves and acorns, the grass isn’t *always* soggy, and the flowers in the gardens and the conservatory often provide a bright spot on a chilly day. Children play on the equipment, ride their bikes around the paths and hand over shiny $2 coins for a ride on the tiny train that buzzes around, ringing its bell contentedly.
On the day I took this photo of the main gates on Tamar Street, we saw a couple having their wedding photos taken, a teenager’s birthday party, complete with balloons and art-student outfits, and lots of children riding bikes, running around, staring at the monkeys. It really is a park for the people.

I love the monkey park, I always have fantastic memories from being a kid and going with my aunt to a leaf fight last year (with you!). High school water fights a the fountain, reading a book in college under th trees, playing chess with using friends as pieces.
aww, good memories.

This was another one of those ‘eh, it’s not great, I’ll take it anyways’ photos! I love this red too, Lisa!
And I love the park as well. I say every season is the best one to be there. And like you, Andrew, I have so many good memories shared with different people – my family when I was little, my friends as I got older, and now my nieces, the next generation.
That leaf fight yielded some excellent photos! And I remember being a queen whilst you and someone else battled for chess champion!

Was it against Daniel? Claire? I can’t remember. :-S

It was either Dan or Adam (or another guy I’ve just forgotten about)… Claire was the other queen!
