She Loves to Hear the Music

Her favourite is The Pussycat Dolls. I think I should rename her iPoss.

Okay, enough terrible puns. Andrew asked for it, here it is. It’s not great by any stretch of the imagination, but consider: it took 35 photos and more than half an hour to get this shot! I had to wake her up, arrange everything, wait for her to settle down to REarrange it around her settledness, take the photo, wait for her to go back to sleep, take the photo again… it was quite a business! Remind me never to photograph animals or small children for a living!

The whole reason I wanted this photo in the first place is because I’ve got a niggling annoyance in the back of my brain, and it concerns music. As is often the case, it stems from spending too much time on Facebook and scanning every comment. Isn’t it amazing that we can access other people’s thoughts and opinions in almost the same second they form them? The concept sounds good (if a little creepy), but really… who wants to know what everyone’s thinking? Ouch. The comment that sparked my indignation, though, wasn’t about me. I don’t even know the person who made it. It went something like this: “Oh, I know that song is four years old, but I love it!”

… and suddenly, the power of instant gratification shows it’s true colours. A song four years old? *gasp* surely you’re supposed to hate it by now! Definitely something to be ashamed of. Are we really that desperate for the latest things, the newest tunes, the most recent news? Anything six months old is instantly ‘out’, while this week’s top of the charts (eight times worse, because we’re not picky, as long as it’s new!) is what everyone is downloading, playing, talking about. Admitting you like it, even though six months ago you played it over and over, and declared that you loved it, is something to be acutely embarrassed about. Is your love so fleeting? Are you so truely shallow? Do you need to get a grip and realise that it’s not age, but quality that matters?

Maybe this bugs me so much because I don’t know any of the latest songs… twelve months later I’ll discover it, if it’s lucky. There’s decades of music that was recorded before I was even born… why do I need to know what was recorded last week? I’ll get there eventually, if it’s worth it. The songs might be a few years old by then… but if they’re any good, I promise to love them through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, world without end.

So cute! I can just imagine that with your puns as a caption on ‘i can haz cheeze burger’

I think all the effort was worth it! This made me smile.

damn the set up of your blog changes more than my shoes, why?

  • iRelle Says:

Well, it certainly changes more often than you comment. >.<
The reason is because some of them are just too much hard work, or after a while i find flaws, like pictures act weirdly and things like that. This time I changed because someone mentioned that the last design was freezing computers. some themes dont handle it when i upgrade wordpress, which is kind of required. the other reason is because up til now, I havent found one I really really like. I adore this one.

now, how about some comments that are actually ABOUT the things in my blog? you suck at those.

  • Janice Porker Says:

Oh that poor long suffering cat!

  • iRelle Says:

Heh, well maybe a little longsuffering :-) But she loves me, still

  • Andrew Says:

Fank U! KUDOS 4 takin picter! It is awesomesauce! lol, I wish my cats had patients, they just get sick of me wanting to cuddles them and follow them around, and give them attention and food! odd, right?

Umm, i think when people say that they like the 4 year old song they mean, that its like “oh this song is old, and overplayed, but there’s something special about it, and so i’ve stayed behind instead of trying to experience new things.” Instead of songs being a popularity thingy, its an apology for being kinda narrow in tastes. You getty?

Also I has a confession…. I thought Muse was a new band that came out this year… yeah, u can tell i follow music. :-p
