That Musical Feelin’

Tonight, thanks to the misfortune of  another, I got to see Newstead’s production of Dusty: The Original Pop Diva, and from the second row, no less.

There’s something feel-good about a musical, isn’t there? The upbeat music, the colours, the costumes, the lights… and sitting in the 99-year-old Princess Theatre amidst the gleaming gilt and sumptuous architecture, it’s hard not to appreciate even the dodgiest of performances. Not that Dusty was dodgy, by any means! In fact, I have to admit that Newstead did a much better job than Launceston College this year – and saying that goes against all my well-established unfounded prejudices for Newstead! Anyway, I had a fabulous night (dahling!) despite the sad bits, and I’m still humming ‘seven little girls in the back seat’.
