Too Far Free

Some feathers, wax and strings

Father fashioned Boy his wings

Admonished him to take a care

As he sprung into the air

Cautioned him to not fly far

To hide from Sun, Earth’s brightest star.

But Sun shone bright on that fair day

And Wind, she floated o’er the bay.

The boy was too far free

As he soared above the beckoning sea.

Sun shone bright on that glorious day

Lighting up his wide pathway

He spread his wings and soared,

To seek and find the unexplored.

His shoulders bore the wings that flew…

They bore the weight of freedom, too.

His graceful fall into the waves

Was only watched by Sun’s bright rays

The feathers, wax and strings -

All that’s left of his strong wings -

Float upon the water’s crest

And Sea holds him within her breast.

His father mourns, he tells the sea

He was my son,

And he was too far free.

    I likes it!

    Although with one line…

The boy was too far free

Something makes me think would go better as.

His son was too far free or Son was far to free.

Although the Son to far free part makes it sound like its coming from the father.

His Son makes it go along more with the fact that the wings were made by the father.

I duno, your the soon to be teacher, Im just a rambling fool :-)
